Hypnosis is very effective in helping people who need to lose weight, as any experienced hypnotherapist will deal with the underlying causes and thinking patterns behind a person's weight problem. It really doesn't matter if you need to lose only a few pounds or several - once these issues have been resolved the weight should drop off easily.
Unlike smoking cessation, which I normally treat in one session (unless further ones are required), those seeking to lose weight will not see an immediate result, therefore it is a good idea to have follow up sessions. However, there is no hard and fast rule to this and some clients just want some motivation to get started on a fitness plan as well many clients need hypnosis sessions for over eating or need an increase in desire to exercise. Losing weight is not easy, and clients should realize that the weight is not going to drop off overnight. As hypnotherapists we are giving clients suggestions that they need in order to eventually reach their goal weight, the mind needs time to take the suggestions and make them true for you as well you as the client must at a deep level accept them as well.. There can be a number of reasons why someone is overweight, therefore it is important we take a full case history and explore the habits and the secondary gain attached to you.
